Disaster Area: Prom Kings, an MTV Star and More!

Mondays at Area are usually pretty rockin’ but I can’t say that the party was too fabulous this week. While my girls and I walked in front of the line, there were only about seven people standing in it. As we walked in, promoter, fame seeker, and ex-reality MTV star Matt Baker (did anyone see Twentfourseven?) met us, looking super hot in his Juicy Couture men’s leather jacket.

He brought us over to a table where band members of the Prom Kings were downing shots and toasting to everything possible. We hung out for a while, but were bored over the myriads of girls who were throwing themselves over these guys. We decided to find some wine (white, of course!) and check out the dance floor. After paying $10 for what tasted like boxed wine, we did our rounds only to find that there really wasn’t much to see.

As we exited, we ran into a group of French expats who had recently made L.A. their home. All in entertainment as producers, writers and directors, the French Posse convinced us to rejoin the party. How could we resist these romancers? Back inside, we found a table and had another drink. The DJ finally brought out the good music and we danced for what felt like hours.

What had at first seemed like a disaster was ironically saved by a group of Frenchies! Though we were sad to say au revoir, my friends and I left on a good night. Disaster averted!
