Britney Spears's Beverly Hills Buying Bonanza
While paparazzi are commonplace in this town, it's not often that you see them climbing walls and mounting each other's shoulders on a posh Beverly Hills street to get a shot of a star. So as I was walking by Ron Herman on Beverly Drive, I had to know what major A-lister (or tabloid slut) was inside. Was Lindsay Lohan out of rehab? Did Paris Hilton get released and was back to shopping already?
Customers had to shove their way through photogs and the madness continued once inside. The shop manager was barking orders to her usually lackluster staff to grab blankets and cover the windows so photogs and the crowd of tourists that had gathered couldn’t see in.
Three trendy looking girls loitered around the fitting room as clothes were being hurled over the fitting room doors. “I’ll take this, and this, and this, and this and…” Was it her? Could she have escaped from her Malibu haven? Clothes kept mounting on top of the door faster than the shopgirls could keep up!
“And this, and this, and oh! So cute! And this!” said the undeniable voice of Britney Spears. Thousands of dollars later, she came out of the room dressed but with a beach towel wrapped around her so photogs couldn't see her face. She paid and exited the back door with the three girls who had watched the commotion occur. The paparazzi started scrambling to catch up.
For a second, I felt sorry for her. Can you imagine having these ridiculously aggressive people chasing after you like that? At the same time, haven’t you ever heard of ordering online?
Everyone in the shop and on the street was talking. I heard that her "nappy extensions" were masked with a scarf. Another woman said that Britney's long white dress made her look dumpy. Sadly, no one had anything positive to say about her.
One shopboy who was standing outside his store watching the commotion unfold summed the sentiment perfectly and said, “She could have been the next Madonna and now she is just trash. Malibu trash! But trash.”
