LAX Has Made a Three 60

Though LAX nightclub has long been fizzling, a new set of promoters is promising to give it new fuel. If the long line to get into the joint on Saturday night proved anything, the club can now be considered a true Hollywood hotspot.

As we entered, ladies were dancing on tables, while the DJ was spinning some crazy bust-a-move rap. Shots were going around and tables were loaded with bottles of Champagne. The party was hot. The arrival of Three 6 Mafia and their crew, who also star in the reality series of Adventures in HollyHood, only legitimized LAX's arrival.

As the music moguls/Oscar winners/self-proclaimed pimps made their way "to da VIP part," they greeted party-goers all while moving in step with the beat. They guys are all too familiar with schmoozing, but they were genuine, Southern gentle...uh...make that Hard Hittaz!

These guys def put the Hood in Hollywood.

Becki Newton Shines at Malibu Beach Party

Finding parking on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu is always scary/difficult/burdensome, as cars are rushing past you at billions of miles an hour as you attempt parallel parking in tiny spots against a sheer cliff side. And with paparazzi loaded up and down Malibu's main road as a plethora of celebs are flocking to corporate-sponsored beach houses, it was a huge relief to pull up to the nicest valet guys ever!

BeckiNewton_136.jpgAs we entered the elegant and modern French Connection-sponsored home in an event benefiting Art of Elysium, we immediately saw hostess Becki Newton (Amanda on Ugly Betty) beaming in a short white sequin-studded dress, complete with Jimmy Choooooooo (excuse the drool!) heels. Although her new hubby, Chris Diamantopoulos, was not with her, the actress hung out with famed celebrity and fashion photographer, Nino Munoz, who donated loads of gorgeous, tasteful photographs to benefit the children's charity.

As we walked around the airy house eating the most amazing -- yet pungent -- garlic noodles from Crustacean (an eatery in Beverly Hills), while sipping sweet watermelon-y drinks spiked with Veev, we saw some stunning photos. Many contained supermodel Gisele Bündchen in intricate poses on the beach. My friend was so taken by them that she actually purchased one!

We spotted Rumor Willis lounging on the bed in one of the upstairs bedrooms that overlooked the ocean. She stayed there much of the evening but eventually joined model couple Kirsty Hume and Donovan Leitch and their daughter on the beach to watch Capoeira dancers glide through the sand as the sun set over the Pacific.

But the Capoeira dancers were the only ones gliding. Too many guests were afraid to take their designer label shoes off before they hit the beach. I couldn't help but laugh as loads of L.A.'s leading ladies trudged in their four inch LouBou's across the sand.

But while sand got in the way of their style, it didn’t get in the way of emptying their wallets! It’s refreshing that assumedly superficial attendees were more set on helping a charity than replacing their sandblasted Choos.

Out 'N' About with Celebrities

It's a quiet time of year in Los Angeles. While TV actors are getting back to long, exhausting days on the set, clubs are at half capacity while restaurants are packed with tourists. But as I was walking into Crunch in Hollywood, I spotted a very properly dressed Willie Garson, who was sporting his signature circular horn-rimmed glasses.

Just down the street at The Grove, David Spade was dressed in baggy cargo pants catching a movie with a buddy.

And just across the street at Whole Foods Market, The Office cutie B.J. Novak was stocking up on bright green Granny Smith apples. He was showing off a goatee that made him fit right in to granola-eating Whole Foods crowd!

Michelle Rodriguez Makes a Grand Exit

MichelleRod_157.jpgIn a previous post, I may have mentioned a postulation of Michelle Rodriguez's impending problems, only for further evidence to have been gathered to prove my point. As she exited the Chateau Marmont (clad in a boyish work shirt) with three girlfriends the other night, I watched her slurred schpiel to the TMZ.com cameras as I waited in the valet line.

They clumsily made their way down the hill and landed by the valet stand. Her two girlfriends were hanging all over her, and when they weren’t, she was hanging all over them. None of them could stand straight!

Though her skin was dewy and fresh, she slumped her shoulders as if warding away anyone who might think she was gorgeous. Someone nearby yelled out to her that she looked beautiful and M.Rod smiled back at her. She did look beautiful -- but beautiful in the most drunken of ways!

As VIP's, their Jeep Wrangler pulled up first and the girls climbed in (sans the use of doors, of course). M.Rod yelled out to those of us who were watching the spectacle, but I couldn’t make out what she said.

Is this just a girl who wants to have fun? Or could we have another LiLo/Nicole/Paris on the scene?

How I Met Your Mother Star's Stunning Makeover

Hanna_75946495.jpgA Hollywood makeup line couldn't be complete without a Hollywood party to celebrate it. A-list celebrities and L.A.'s chicest stylists and designers celebrated Lorac Cosmetics new line of red carpet ready makeup palettes designed by owner Carol Shaw and the designers of L.A. fashion label Miss Davenport at the Chateau Marmont on Sunset Blvd.

Shiva Rose McDermott (wife of Dylan), Debbie Matenopoulos, Ashley Olsen, Ever Carradine, Alyson Hannigan, Steven Cojucaru, and Jamie-Lynn Sigler all celebrated on the balcony of one of the Chateau's largest suites over a spectacular L.A. view.

Alyson looked positively radiant, not only looking ridiculously skinny in her indigo Rogan dress and platform Saint Laurent heels, but also modeled a fab new hair cut and darker haircolor. Fresh from the first day of rehearsals on the set of How I Met Your Mother, Alyson looked fantastic. She has certainly grown up since those days at "band camp!" She revealed to me that she found her dress on sale at Barney's New York in Beverly Hills. Don't we all just love a great bargain?

Ashley wore her own line, The Row, and looked at ease in the crowd, despite photographers constantly in her face. She hung around stylist Estee Stanley and other friends. We didn't see her drinking or smoking, and as one girl said, "She looks kinda normal."

Every guest scored an awesome giftbag that included the amazing Lorac Showstopper Palette, a Lorac cafe mocha flavored lip gloss, and nipple petals from Frederick's of Hollywood. I am so ready for the next red carpet!

Jennifer Says Marc is "Employee of the Month"

My mom always told me to be careful about the jokes I make, because there's usually truth behind them. And if my mom's right, then Marc Anthony's one-liners on the red carpet at the premiere of El Cantante makes it clear that he and Jennifer Lopez could be in a bit of a power struggle and that things may not be as simple as the duo told People (Marc told the mag that Jennifer is 100-percent the boss).

JloMarc_325.jpg

Two spots down the red carpet from me stood the TV Guide Channel who asked LaLopez about producing and starring in the movie. Marc quipped, "It was great to have her as my boss! Hey, honey, do I get to be Employee of the Month? I better be!"

Jennifer laughed a fake laugh -- obviously a little uncomfortable that Marc would be so quick to point out that she was his boss. Marc laughed at his own jokes and as Jennifer seriously answered the question, Marc turned behind him to greet costar Leonor Varela, who had just arrived. As he got back to the interview, he deadpanned into the camera, "I was just kidding. We know who the boss really is."

A few moments later, I got my chance on the carpet with the power (struggling) couple. I asked Marc and J.Lo -- who looked ravishing in an Alberta Feretti long white silk chiffon V-neck dress, complete with grosgrain ribbon details, a stunning puff sleeve and accessorized with a turquoise, coral and thin-chained gold necklace -- about what it was like working together on the set. Marc shook his head and said, "Terrible. It was terrible." Ha ha.

Jennifer looked over at him, probably wondering whether to laugh at his joke and probably thinking that press like me would totally twist that around. Instead, Jennifer said, "No, it was a blessing, really. It was great." The gorgeous producer/actress/singer/designer/etc. went on to say, "You know, when we did these fighting scenes that would be really intense, it would be a big adrenaline rush, like you scored a touchdown. Afterward, we'd be like 'Wasn't that great? What about when I pushed you?'"

At that, we were all laughing, though my laugh was a little awkward. The best part about working together was getting to "play fight?" Sounds like some sort of weird form of couples counseling to me.

Jen abruptly changed tones and continued, "So we were just really about getting the reality of the story on the screen. We were lucky to have each other there because we are so comfortable with each other, and we have each other's support."

I was only allowed two questions, but the conversation spilled over to the reporter next to me. "There were so many intense scenes and emotionally difficult places we had to go," J.Lo explained. "But then, with the fun scenes, it made it easier too! We get each other's humor."

Still, I'm not so sure Jennifer was getting her husband's so-called humor. Marc made yet another joke to that reporter after Jennifer went on about the character Marc plays. Maybe realizing that his previous jokes may have revealed too much truth, Marc said, "I'd like to mention to the viewers of Fox11 that I'd like to announce my retirement as 'Employee of the Month.' This movie is truly an extension of what we are, and there are tags I say to the press..."
